AMMAN — A number of teachers carried out
an open sit-in at the Ministry of Education on Tuesday, demanding a resolution
to the issue of teachers referred to early retirement or suspended from work,
calling for the reinstatement of the dissolved Jordanian Teachers Syndicate,
according to AmmanNet.

Nasser Al-Nawasra, the syndicate’s deputy head, told
local media outlets that the teachers are staging an open sit-in inside what he
described as “our ministry and our home”, adding that the purpose of the sit-in
is clear — to reinstate those referred to early and provisional retirement, and
those suspended from work. He said that teachers must return to their jobs with
full financial rights and job titles.
“We are in an open sit-in to achieve these demands, and to
give people their rights, as there is clear procrastination, despite all
official statements in this regard,” he said.
