AMMAN — The
US embassy in Amman commemorated on Thursday the 20th the
anniversary of the September 11 attacks by Al-Qaeda, according to an embassy
press statement.

At the request of US Ambassador
to Jordan Henry T. Wooster, a moment of silence on the honor of the 2,977
innocent people who died in the attacks, including two Jordanian citizens,
Robert Elias Talhmi and Ramzi Duani, who were killed in the attacks.
The ceremony was attended by
embassy staff, family members of Jordanian victims, and senior officials of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab
Army. Ambassador Wooster said that the commemoration comes to “remind ourselves
that, even as life continues, the memories of those who were taken from us,
hold our continued efforts towards a better tomorrow for ourselves and for
future generations.”
Commenting on the deaths of
13 American soldiers during the evacuations of US citizens and partners from
Afghanistan, Wooster commented that “the grief of their families and friends
reminds us of the cost that terrorism imposes on us.”
