The Council of Ministers, in its session held today, Tuesday, and chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, decided to increase the salaries of military retirees and veterans, setting the minimum pension at 350 dinars, effective at the end of this month. This decision comes in celebration of the Veterans and Military Retirees Loyalty Day.

The decision will benefit approximately 17,000 retirees, with a total cost of around 5 million dinars from the Pension Directorate (Ministry of Finance) and Social Security.
Additionally, the decision will apply to military retirees receiving pensions from the Social Security Corporation, ensuring equality with their counterparts receiving pensions through the Ministry of Finance.
The decision addresses a long-standing imbalance in the pensions of some former military retirees, whose salaries ranged between 220 and less than 350 dinars. Notably, new military retirements now guarantee a minimum pension of 350 dinars. This adjustment ensures fairness and equality between older and newer retirees.
This decision aligns with the government's broader efforts to review wages across different sectors within the available financial resources and treasury capabilities.
The Prime Minister emphasized that supporting military retirees and veterans is a top government priority in recognition of their dedicated service to the nation. He affirmed that they are a source of great experience and a true representation of Jordanian values and principles, enjoying the trust and attention of His Majesty the King. The government is committed to utilizing their expertise across various fields.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister reiterated the government's ongoing efforts, in collaboration with the Military Retirees Institution and other entities, to allocate agricultural land and support cooperative associations benefiting military retirees, thereby providing them with new opportunities.
