IEC Chairman, Engineer Musa Al-Maaytah, announced the adoption of the digital ID through the "Sanad" application in the upcoming elections. He emphasized that this measure will facilitate the work of the commission and electoral committees while accelerating the processing of electoral transactions.
Al-Maaytah noted that 80% of the procedures in the previous elections were automated, affirming the commission’s goal of achieving full automation at 100% in the upcoming elections. This transition aims to enhance the efficiency of the electoral process and minimize human errors.
Regarding the role of election observers, Al-Maaytah clarified that there will be no changes, but electronic records will be generated and transferred to paper copies instead of the other way around. This shift will contribute to faster result announcements and enhance transparency and accuracy in the electoral process.
As part of workforce development, Al-Maaytah announced the launch of an electoral training platform targeting election committee staff. Moving forward, no individual will be approved to serve on election committees without completing this training, ensuring higher readiness and efficiency among electoral teams.
During the meeting, he also highlighted the importance of employing artificial intelligence in elections, particularly in analyzing electoral data to improve performance and support decision-making based on accurate insights.
