New York – The United Nations Security Council will hold a briefing session tomorrow on food insecurity in Sudan under the agenda item "Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflicts."

The briefing is expected to be delivered by Edem Wosornu, Director of Operations and Advocacy Division at the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and Beth Bechdol, Deputy Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The meeting was requested by the United Kingdom, Guyana, and Slovenia, with support from Denmark and Sierra Leone.
Sudan will participate in the session under Rule 37 of the Council's Provisional Rules of Procedure.
