Speaking to local media, Hijjawi said the increase requires more vaccinations to be administered and adherence to all precautionary measures imposed in the Kingdom.
He said that Jordan is witnessing slight increases in COVID-19 cases in light of the reopening of sectors, pointing out that the positivity rate of COVID-19 tests has reached 6.02 percent for the first time in four months.
He said that cases admitted to hospitals are also on the rise, especially in the north of the country, noting that the total active case numbers rose to top 23,000 cases.
Hospitalized cases also came to 612, Hijjawi said, who added that mild cases were subject to 10-day quarantines. He said that a high rate of infected patients have not received the COVID-19 vaccine.
About 4 million citizens have already received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine since the start of the vaccination drive, according to statistics issued by the Ministry of Health on Saturday.
