AMMAN — Director- General of the
Meteorological Department
Raed Al-Khattab warned of torrential rains this
Friday in several areas, most notably the Dead Sea, to Khaberni reported.

According to Khattab, starting Wednesday evening,
the Kingdom will witness unstable weather conditions, especially in the
southeastern and eastern areas, and rain, accompanied by thunder, will fall in
the southeastern parts of the Kingdom, spreading later to the eastern areas.
He said that
heavy rains will fall at dawn on Thursday in the southeastern and eastern
areas, which could flood the nearby valleys.
On Thursday evening it will rain in the northern
parts of Jordan, and an accompanying depression will bring temperatures down on
Friday, Khattab said,
The heavy rain will be accompanied by brisk westerly
winds and occasional strong gusts.
Meanwhile, The
Greater Amman Municipality (GAM)announced a state of medium emergency, starting Wednesday evening in order to
deal with the expected state of atmospheric instability. GAM called on
citizensto call the unified call center numbers (102 or 117180) in case of
emergency.
