AMMAN — The
total value of funds lent by Jordanian banks operating in Palestine during the
first nine months of this year increased by JD86.5 million compared to the end
of last year, according to the C
entral Bank of Jordan.

The cumulative
balance of credit facilities granted by Jordanian banks operating in Palestine
until the end of September rose by 3.5 percent to top JD2.49 billion, compared
to a JD2.41 billion at the end of last year.
These facilities
were distributed according to the granted currency types to include JD396.4
million as banking facilities granted to all sectors, including personal loans,
the size of such facilities made up 15.8 percent of the total current balance
of facilities granted by Jordanian banks operating in Palestine.
Bank facilities in
various foreign currencies amounted to JD983.4 million, and accounted for 39.3
percent of the total amount of bank facilities granted to different economic and
commercial sectors, including groups of individuals, in the Palestinian territories.
According to the
official statistics of the Central Bank of Jordan, the total deposits and at
Jordanian banks in Palestine in the first nine months of this year came to JD4.33
billion.
