AMMAN -Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Imad Hijazin, discussed on Thursday with Director of the
Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Jordan (AICS), Emilio Cabasino, ways to enhance joint cooperation in the tourism field.

Speaking at the meeting, Hijazin expressed the ministry's readiness to intensify cooperation with AICS in developing archaeological and tourist sites.
Acting Director-General of Jordan Department of Antiquities (DoA), Hisham Abbadi, stressed the importance of the existing DoA-AICS cooperation through joint agreements aimed to develop the Kingdom's archaeological and tourist sites.
Joint programs cover four pilot projects: Restoration in northern ancient city of Jerash, Madaba downtown development, preservation project in southern Shobak Castle, and Amman Roman Theater development, Abbadi pointed out.
Cabasino, for his part, stressed AICS's keenness to cooperate and support projects to preserve Jordan's cultural and human heritage and rehabilitate its archaeological and tourist destinations.
The two sides agreed to nominate a liaison officer for each project to carry out follow-up and coordination tasks.
Fully funded by the Italian government, the four projects seek to develop Jordan's archaeological and tourist attractions and their surrounding communities, according to a ministry statement.
