Tourism revenue up 61.2% in first 10 months of 2021

AMMAN — Jordan's tourism revenue stood at $2.1 billion rose in the first 10 months of the year, an increase of 61.2 per cent compared to the same period in 2020, as more foreigners continue to arrive in the Kingdom, according to Central Bank of Jordan figures.اضافة اعلان

For contract, the first 10 months of 2020 saw a 73 percent decline in tourism revenue compared to the same period in 2019, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The central bank’s data showed that the growth in revenue was mainly driven by a 59.7 per cent rise in the number of tourists, which reached 1.8 million during the January-October period of this year, compared to the same period of last year.

Tourism revenues generated from non-resident Jordanians accounted for 44.6 per cent of the total tourism income, followed by Arab countries (excluding Gulf countries) with 27 percent of the total number of tourists, and finally GCC countries with 14.6 percent, the data showed.

October saw a rise in tourism revenue by $302 million to stand at $352 million, compared to the same month last year, owing to a total of 278,000 tourists visiting the Kingdom; 278,000 more visitors than the preceding year, the figures revealed.
