AMMAN — Owners of travel and tourism
agencies at the Jordan Society of
Tourism and Travel Agents (JSTA) are still
protesting and calling for restructuring their association’s board of directors
which were appointed by the government, according to Al-Ghad daily.

Tareq Al-Hatamleh, owner of a travel
and
tourism agency, said that “the current president, the one who is appointed
by the government, of the association does not perform his duties in order to facilitate
the workflow at the association.”
He added that the appointed president
breaches laws and regulations of the association’s internal by-law, in addition
to obstructing any progress of the association.
Issam Al-Shaer, another travel
agency owner, said that the sector has been deteriorating for 17 months without
support.
He said that it is important to
elect, not appoint, a council from the general assembly.
