AMMAN – Security forces arrested the driver of a cargo vehicle who caused the death of a member of the External Patrols Directorate on Tuesday, according to Khaberni.

The spokesperson for the
Public Security Directorate (PSD) stated that during an external patrol's official duty in Zarqa province on Monday evening, they stopped a cargo vehicle, and it was found that the driver was wanted.
He added that when the driver was stopped, he attempted to
escape from the scene. One of the patrol staff chased him, but the driver insisted on driving away, endangering the officer, who was hit. The officer was taken to the hospital but unfortunately passed away. The driver fled the scene.
The spokesperson confirmed that through an ongoing investigation and search for the driver, an investigative team managed to locate him in one of the northern desert areas. The team moved to the location, arrested him, and another person who was with him during his escape. They will be referred to the judiciary after completing the investigations.
“The Public Security Directorate mourned Officer Ahmed Marwan Ahmed Thabet and prays that Allah may grant him mercy, patience to his family, relatives, and colleagues, and offers condolences,” the spokesperson said.
