Amman– U.S. President Joe Biden has canceled his final planned overseas trip of his presidency, which was scheduled to take him to Rome and the Vatican.

The decision was made just hours before his departure, as he chose to remain in Washington to oversee response efforts to the devastating wildfires sweeping California.
According to the U.S. channel Al-Hurra, Biden was scheduled to depart on Thursday afternoon for a three-day visit to Italy, where he was set to meet Pope Francis, Italian President Sergio Mattarella, and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Massive wildfires are raging in the Los Angeles area amid dangerously strong winds, claiming the lives of at least five people, destroying numerous structures, and forcing tens of thousands of residents to evacuate their homes.
