The Common Country
Analysis (CCA) findings were discussed when covering anticipated challenges for
the years 2023 till 2027, including poverty, unemployment, and the water
crisis.
The UN Cooperation
Framework in the Field of sustainable development was discussed when
brainstorming potential solutions to help prepare for the shared issues, as it
aims to identify sustainable development solutions through inclusive dialogue
with a broad range of stakeholders.
The UN Framework
for Cooperation in the Field of sustainable development represents the
framework of the strategic partnership between the UN and the Jordanian government,
and revolves around the UN's priorities for supporting the Kingdom for the next
five years.
The framework also
represents a commitment, most notably, to the marginalized and vulnerable to
ensure that everyone is included in the solution.
Anders Pedersen,
the UN resident and humanitarian coordinator emphasized, during the meeting, the
importance of collaboration with all sectors to ensure a "holistic
approach to society."
"We will
conduct a series of consultations. We look forward to enhancing the
relationship between the UN and every partner," he said.
Pedersen also highlighted
the importance of discussing the findings of the CCA in finding sustainable and
realistic solutions, as well as "conducting a discussion on the potential
priorities of the UN and discussing additional topics on which the UN should
focus more efforts in the future."
During the town
hall, journalists were given the opportunity to suggest ideas that could
strengthen the partnership between local media and the UN to contribute to dealing
with the challenges Jordan is facing.
At the end of the
town hall, the UN coordinators office shared that they will conduct ongoing
conversations with government counterparts, civil society, national and
international NGOs, women's groups, youth groups, refugees, partners, donors,
the private sector, media, and online consultants to continue the dialogue on
sustainable development in anticipation of the upcoming challenges.
