In a statement on Wednesday, the
UNDP said
that joint activities with the forum will prop up initiatives to achieve
economic development, sustainable growth and prosperity for all Jordanians, in
addition to leveraging comparative advantages and expertise. The agreement will
also support legislation and policies that enhance the economic environment in
the Kingdom.
“This cooperation comes within the framework
of expanding partnerships with institutions and organizations, with which the
forum has common interests,” said Nisreen Barakat, director general of the JSF.
The aim, she said, is to create a local
development indicator that measures development in Jordan within five
categories: health, education, infrastructure, economic activities and social
conditions.
UNDP Jordan’s Resident Representative Randa Abu
Al-Hosn said that each country’s financial relations are a continuously
developing system that responds to changes in economic, demographic and
political factors.
The UNDP will work alongside the forum and national
partners to bring in top global experts, generate reliable and accurate data,
and provide high-quality consultancy on local investment policies to achieve
the Sustainable Development Goals in Jordan, she added.
