UNHCR supported Jordan refugees with $63m in 2022

AMMAN — The United Nations High Commissionerfor Refugees (UNHCR) spent $63.76 million to support 255,453 refugees in Jordan in 2022, according to UNHCR data.اضافة اعلان

These expenses were distributed among health grants, cash grants, livelihood grants, and educational grants, in addition to multi-purpose cash assistance to meet basic needs, Alrai daily reported.

Regional cash assistanceAccording to UNHCR data, the agency’s cash assistance reached 2.2 million individuals within the MENA region last year, 1.8 million of whom received multi-purpose cash assistance, at a total value of $247 million — $157 million for Syrians and $95 million for people of other nationalities.

In addition, 2.3 million individuals across the region received winter cash assistance valued at $73.2 million.

Country breakdownThe UNHCR provided livelihood grants in Egypt, Jordan, Mauritania, Morocco, and Turkey; health grants in Egypt and Jordan; education grants in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Syria, and Turkey, and shelter grants in Algeria, Lebanon, Mauritania, and Yemen.

To encourage resilience, enhance social cohesion, and reduce tensions, the agency also provided cash support to vulnerable members of host communities in Libya and Mauritania.
