This
support will allow more than 1,500 adolescents
and youth between the ages of 17 and 24 years who are living in vulnerable communities across the country to become
economically engaged through career counselling and skills building, technical and vocational
training, and entrepreneurship support, according to a press statement.
‘Critical’ skills for
Jordan’s youthAmbassador of Italy to Jordan Luciano Pezzotti said: “I am very proud to witness the launch of yet
another program with UNICEF, dedicated to the youth in Jordan, who are the
real key for the progress and success of this country.”
“I commend the wonderful job
done by UNICEF in the fields of education, capacity building, and economic
resilience,” he added.
Philippe Duamelle, UNICEF Representative to Jordan, noted that his organization “is delighted to partner
with the Government of Italy to provide vulnerable young people with critical
and future-ready skills that will enhance their employability and help their
successful transition to adulthood.”
Learning to earningWith this
support from the Government of Italy, UNICEF will continue to implement its Learning to Earning
program — supporting vulnerable adolescents and youth to access meaningful
employment and income through training and entrepreneurship support that
reflects the needs of the labor market.
Throughout the two-year
partnership, UNICEF will aim to reach vulnerable youth in every governorate of
Jordan, including in refugee camps.
