University of Jordan reveals new hospital project in Amman

AMMAN – On Friday, the President of the University of Jordan, Nathir Obeidat, called for support for a project to establish a 250-bed hospital affiliated with the university hospital to treat emergency and critical cases that require urgent medical attention, serving the entire capital, Amman, reported Al-Mamlaka TV reported.اضافة اعلان

Obeidat spoke during a visit by the Health and Food Committee in the House of Representatives, which included the committee chairman, Mohammad Al-Khalaileh, and members Ahmed Asha, Marwa Al-Saoub, and Rima Al-Amoush, along with MP Mayada Shreim and Hayel Ayyash.

Obeidat mentioned that the budget of the hospital amounted to JD 120 million this year, registering a tangible increase compared to last year; an increase of JD 76 million.

He pointed to the new 5-story dental treatment building with 250 dental chairs. Noting that two floors of the building, with a total area of 8,000 square meters, have been allocated to establish advanced medical centers that are relied upon to make a difference in the services provided in the fields of specialized surgeries and cardiac catheterization.

The committee, along with the university president and the hospital director, also inaugurated an 8-bed ICU, established with the support of USAID. The visiting delegation also toured the ninth floor, which was rehabilitated as a modern and new residence for resident doctors in the hospital, with a total of 90 rooms.

Additionally, they discussed several issues facing hospital visitors, such as parking and appointment spacing, stressing the need for special policies to alleviate the pressure on the hospital, expand facilities, and increase revenues.

Obeidat pointed out that the university hospital, despite the enormous pressure from insured and exempted patients, in addition to financial challenges, is characterized by its services provided by a distinguished medical staff practically, academically, and with its precise sub-specialties.

Obeidat confirmed the hospital’s readiness to receive Gaza casualties, describing the University of Jordan and its hospitals as an integral part of the Jordanian government’s policy of supporting and assisting Palestinians. He emphasized the personal initiative of the hospital’s doctors to waive any fees in exchange for treating war casualties in Gaza.

The general manager of the hospital, Nader Al-Bsoul, presented a brief overview of the hospital. He noted it as a global medical academic center that provides services by specialized medical staff in major and sub-specialties. Its academic ranks range from assistant professor to professor, supported by highly efficient health and administrative staff.

Al-Bsoul reviewed some statistics and figures that indicate the volume of work in the hospital, which is visited annually by more than 650,000 visitors to its medical clinics and departments, and nearly 100,000 visitors to the emergency department. He also touched on the medical excellence and uniqueness that he performs at the level of major and precise surgical operations, and his contributions to medical tourism at the national level, in addition to advanced services, such as the “Without Appointment” service and the medicine delivery service in cooperation with Aramex, which was introduced based on his constant efforts to ensure that his visitors receive appropriate service.

Al-Bsoul confirmed that the hospital, despite the various challenges, is moving forward in developing its services and providing distinctive high-quality health care with a general and specialized character, alongside various education and training programs, by providing a technically rich environment that allows for healthy practice opportunities at the highest health and service standards.

For his part, Mohammad Al-Khalaileh said that the committee is visiting the university hospital, as part of several field visits it has made to the Ministry of Health and Royal Medical Services hospitals and the King Hussein Cancer Center, to learn about the health services provided to patients and discuss the challenges they face, and to take care of their needs.

Despite all the challenges, the committee expressed admiration for the project proposed by the university president and the advanced medical services provided by the hospital. Obeidat expressed contentment with this visit and the committee’s interest in learning about the services provided to citizens and their challenges.
