AMMAN — The
Telecommunications Regulatory Commission said on Monday that it had received an official request
from the
Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Regulatory Commission to
block 28 unlicensed applications to transport passengers, according to several
media outlets.

Commission CEO Bassam Al-Sarhan said that the
authority addressed the companies licensed to provide Internet services to work
to block these applications as quickly as possible.
Sarhan also
said that the authority coordinated with the representatives of the licensed
companies to follow up on the process of blocking applications that companies
have been unable to block, but that most of these applications depend on
changing their technical characteristics and identification mark, such as Internet
addresses and/or domain names related to or connected to them constantly in
order to circumvent the customary blocking mechanisms, and, as a result, it was
difficult to continue blocking them.
He said that
the authority is cooperating with companies to find a more efficient and
effective technical mechanism to implement the blocking process.
