AMMAN — The waterfalls of
Aremeiman in Al-Balqa Governorate, an important tourist destination, are
suffering from neglect and a lack of basic facilities, according to a report by
Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Visitors to the area have
reported a lack of designated seating areas, health facilities, and kiosks that
provide services, as well as a large amount of waste and unpleasant odor.
Lack of attentionConcerned citizens have
expressed their disappointment at the deterioration of the area and the lack of
attention and infrastructure it receives. Mohammad Manour stated that the
waterfalls area is repelling tourists instead of attracting them. At the same
time, Ali Al Zoubi demanded that the authorities develop the site and provide
necessary services to attract visitors and promote tourism.
Mahmoud Arabiyat, Director of
the Balqa Tourism Directorate, highlighted the area's importance from a tourism
perspective, as it is characterized by a moderate climate, abundant springs,
and forests.
He urged the Al-Salt Greater
Municipality to organize the area, provide better services, and create
appropriate infrastructure to encourage tourism projects and investment
opportunities.
Arabiyat added that improving
the area would enable and welcome investors to the area, and one investor has
already started licensing procedures for a resort, expected to provide job
opportunities for local youth.
Out of municipality
jurisdictionMohammed Al-Hiyari, mayor of
the Greater Salt Municipality, stated that the waterfalls area is not within
the municipality's jurisdiction. Still, they conduct annual cleanliness
campaigns in the area to maintain its upkeep.
He emphasized the importance
of organizing and integrating the area within the municipality's boundaries to
provide better services and develop the necessary infrastructure to encourage
investment and create job opportunities for locals.
