AMMAN —
World Bank (WB) Vice President for
the Middle East and North Africa Ferid Belhaj said that the youth and
technology project funded by WB in Jordan has provided 2,672 job opportunities,
according to Al-Mamlaka TV.

The project is currently preparing a technology
curriculum for government schools for grades 7 through 12, he said.
Speaking during a meeting with
Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hanandeh, Belhaj pointed to the growing
role, digital companies in Jordan play in creating employment and
skills-building programs for youth and women, to support economic growth.
Hanandeh said that some 55 companies have received
support from the program, adding that in 2023, the technology curriculum will
be introduced in government schools for grades seven, nine, and 11, while, it
will be introduced for grades 8, 10 and 12 in 2024.
The program also aims to hone and develop graduates’
digital skills through an association established to bridge the digital
competency supply/demand gap in the workforce while increasing graduates’
chances of being employed in “decent” jobs, he said.
