He stressed that every child deserves a healthy and safe life, but "the children of Gaza are paying for the war with their lives."
According to WHO's official website, Dr. Ghebreyesus reiterated his call for a ceasefire in Gaza via the "X" platform last night.
The organization noted that as temperatures drop in Gaza, heavy rain and cold weather are making survival increasingly difficult for displaced families.
It reported that many people face shelter issues due to water flooding and damaging tents.
Newborns have lost their lives to hypothermia, and the cold winter conditions are also contributing to the spread of diseases.
The Israeli occupation has continued its assault on Gaza by land, sea, and air since October 7, 2023, resulting in 45,854 deaths and 109,139 injuries in a still-incomplete count.
The dire situation is exacerbated by severe shortages of essential aid and freezing weather, worsening the already dire living conditions for civilians.
