According to the WHO's official website, its Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, posted on X following Friday’s attack on the Saudi Specialized Women's and Obstetrics Hospital in Al-Fasher, the only functioning hospital in the area that provides services including obstetrics, gynecology, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and a therapeutic nutrition center.

He continued to call for an end to all attacks on the healthcare sector in Sudan, urging full access for the rapid repair of damaged facilities.

The ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, which broke out in April 2023 due to disputes over the integration of the two forces, has led to the deaths of tens of thousands, the displacement of millions from their homes, and left half of the population facing hunger.

Darfur Governor Mini Arko Minawi stated on X that a convoy from the Rapid Support Forces targeted the emergency department of the hospital in the capital of North Darfur state, killing patients, including women and children.
