This
recommendation was made following a study on the need to find justifications
for implementing the WHO convention regarding tobacco control, which was
carried out by the
Ministry of Health in cooperation with WHO and the UN
Development Program in 2019.
During dialogue
sessions around the role of the media in raising health awareness last week,
Bou Kardana said that a new study is investigating the prevalence of smoking
among the 13-15 age group, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the
Ministry of Education, and the results of the study are expected to be
announced in June 2023.
Jordan is considered the world’s top country when it comes
to the prevalence of smoking among males.
