AMMAN — The
Jordan Hejaz Railway Corporation plans to increase train trips to Wadi Rum to
underline the Kingdom’s cultural heritage and boost tourism to the area,
according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

It said the comments by Transport Minister
Wajeeh Al-Azaizeh came during a coordination meeting to enhance tourism to Wadi
Rum with Tourism Minister Nayef Al-Fayez and
Jordan Heritage Revival Company (JHRC) Board chairman, Shehada Abu Hudaib, on Saturday.
The Transport Ministry said in a statement
that the meeting, which was also attended by the Director General of the Jordan
Hijaz Railway Corporation, Salah Al-Lozi, was briefed by the JHRC chief on a
tourism project the company is implementing in
Wadi Rum, which was designed to
depict Jordan’s diverse tourism and geographical history.
It said the minister said the Jordan Hejaz
Railway Corporation is ready to increase the number of train trips to Wadi Rum,
noting the Jordan Hijaz Railway Corporation’s role in the tourist project,
where steam trains will run trips to reflect the Kingdom’s rich history and the
centennial of the Great Arab Revolt.
The participants agreed to step up work and coordination
among all stakeholders to provide a unique Jordanian tourism product locally
and internationally.
