AMMAN — Jordan’s
water situation is “very critical”,
Minister of Water and Irrigation Mohammad Al-Najjar said, adding that “water prices might increase by the end of 2023,”
according to a local media outlet.

The price increase would be part of enhancing water
supply and related services, the minister said.
Najjar said that there will be no price increase this year
or for most of next year. Next year, the water situation is going to be better
“even if the rainfall season is not good”, he said, indicating that the
ministry is working on digging more wells to provide additional water.
