AMMAN — Residents of Al-Ghadeer Al-Akhdar
areas in Mafraq,
Bani Kinana District in Irbid, and several areas in Karak,
have complained that drinking water, pumped through the municipality network,
had not reached their homes for three weeks now, according to Jo24.

They added that the situation was so bad that they
now rely on buying water from private providers, which constitutes an
additional financial burden on them in light of the difficult conditions they
are experiencing.
Spokesperson at the
Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Omar Salama, confirmed that the water situation in the Kingdom is
critical, adding that the ministry is intensifying its efforts to provide
residents with drinking water in “a just way”.
Salama admitted that some areas have issues and
suffer from “imbalances in distribution, and the ministry and technical cadres
are trying to solve them within available capabilities”.
He added that the ministry has introduced new sources of
drinking water in some areas, while increasing quantities pumped from Disi
water basin.
