AMMAN — Former health minister
Walid Al-Maani has said
that we have no option but to admit that we are now going through a community
spread of COVID-19 and the issue is no longer a case here and a case there;
rendering selective quarantine protocols and PCR tests ineffective.

He told Ammon News that when a community outbreak
occurs, none of these measures helps, and
PCR tests become worthless, as long
as everyone is infected or will be infected.
Maani added that PCR testing was necessary when it was
directed at those who were in contact with infected persons or at a high
infection zone in order to limit the spread, but now we have to think again
about changing the game plan and reserving testing only for the high-risk
category of patients.
Logic says that everyone will be infected, so we must
hurry to vaccinate the young and children so that we can rectify our situation
and be ready when the storm hits us, Maani said.
He said that we still have a short window of time to
raise the rate of vaccinations and boosters, in addition to preparing our
hospitals and direct the funds and cadres we use to conduct tests that are
meaningless now, towards maintaining hospitals and preparing the health sector.
