and Immunology Hani Ababneh said that there is a noticeable increase in the
rates of seasonal allergies this year in the Kingdom, according to Al-Rai
daily.

Frequent weather and temperature fluctuations, in
addition to the high level of humidity, negatively affected the
mucous membranes lining the nose and throat, which means people are more easily
exposed to the dust and pollen currently blooming and spreading, leading to a
high percentage of people with seasonal allergies, he said, adding that the
humidity level is normally 50 percent lower than witnessed now.
He also said that pollen is found in higher
percentages this season, compared to previous years; pollen measuring more than
25 grains per square meter may causes allergy, while the percentage witnessed
now in Jordan is about 50-70 grains per square meter, and this is another major
reason people have allergies.
The
Kingdom is full of wildflowers, especially in the
northern regions, and their pollen is spread over long distances, which also
leads to a greater number of people suffering from allergies.
