AMMAN — This year’s wedding
season was generally weak, partly because of the worsening financial condition
of many Jordanians, some of whom are refraining from tying the knot, a wedding
planner said, according to Khaberni.

Maamoun Al-Manaseer, who heads a
group of wedding hall owners and planners, noted that business activity was
better prior to the
COVID-19 pandemic, which battered the world in the spring
of 2020, and resulted in widespread lockdowns and closures that paralyzed
public life domestically.
Manaseer said other reasons that led
to the decline included people opting for renting farms for their weddings and
celebrations because of the cheaper prices they offer, or to people using their
homes for wedding celebrations, rather than leasing wedding venues.
