The "Address Me Objectively" competition was launched last year with
the aim of encouraging media professionals to submit objective media creative
materials that deal with disability from a perspective that shuns stereotypes, according
to an HCD statement.
The competition also aimed to urge the media to shed light on the obstacles
facing people with disabilities and not on the disabilities themselves,
focusing on the impact of environmental and behavioral obstacles and
stereotypes in denying people with disabilities equal access to their rights
and freedoms.
Prince Mired emphasized the media’s role in addressing
stereotypes related to disability, and highlighting the experiences and
contributions of people with disabilities.
