AMMAN — On
Tuesday, the
Jordanian Women Parliamentarians Forum held a meeting with the
Women's Committee in the Senate. The meeting was chaired by MP Mayada Al-Shreim,
chairperson of the Forum of Jordanian Women Parliamentarians, and Senator Haifa
Al-Najjar, chairperson of the Senate Women's Committee.

During the
meeting, they discussed the important common issues that would support women,
increase women’s political empowerment, and help women to face all the
challenges facing Jordanian women.
Shreim told
Jordan
News that the meeting was aimed at launching a cooperative project between the
Lower House and the Senate, in order to support and empower Jordanian women,
especially politically.
The deputy added
that the meetings between the two councils aim to develop a comprehensive plan
that will help in creating the framework for a program to support women.
The deputy underlined
that this meeting was the first of many, and that monthly meetings will be held
to come up with recommendations and results that support women in all fields. She
added that project originated from a shared vision from both the Forum of Women
Parliamentarians and the Women's Committee in the Senate, through many joint
meetings, which concluded in their agreement to establish a project that
empowers women.
During the
meeting, Shreim said that empowering women and highlighting their role in the
political field. Particularly the importance of their participation in
decision-making and development requires more support and societal awareness.
For her part,
Senator Najjar said that women have been able to establish themselves in many
areas of society despite the difficult economic and political conditions.
