Speaking during a meeting Saturday, to discuss performance indicators of electricity distribution companies during the recent weather conditions, Kharabsheh noted work is underway to find a mechanism that commits sector companies to improve performance, especially during exceptional and emergency cases.

The minister also stressed the importance of the electricity distribution companies' commitment to ensuring security of the electricity supply and its sustainability.

Referring to the power outages that occurred during the recent weather conditions as "unacceptable," he noted performance indicators should be established to address shortcomings and improve efficacy.

The minister said the mechanism, which will be issued by the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC), will feature performance indicators, criteria mainly aimed to enhance service quality and cooperation of companies operating in the sector to deal with emergency situations.
