" The event targets researchers from the Agricultural Research Center in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).
Director General of the Center, Khaled Abu Hamour, underscored the importance of fostering cooperation and strengthening ties with Arab countries, particularly the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, by enhancing researchers' capabilities and empowering them in agricultural fields such as plant science, soil management, and organic fertilization.
Shurooq Maaytah, Director of the Agricultural Consulting and Training Department at the Center, emphasized the workshop's focus on the critical role of organic fertilizers in improving soil quality and boosting agricultural productivity.
Participants from Jordan and Iraqi Kurdistan explored the effects of organic fertilizers on soil's physical and chemical properties and their vital contribution to plant growth and crop yield.
The five-day workshop covers key topics, including the impact of organic fertilizers on soil health, strategies for improving soil fertility, and the interplay between plant nutrition and soil properties.
Maaytah noted that this initiative represents a joint effort between the National Center, JICA, and the Agricultural Research Center in Kurdistan to enhance scientific expertise and develop professional talents in agriculture. By promoting innovative approaches to organic fertilizer use, the workshop aims to address contemporary agricultural challenges while strengthening regional cooperation and knowledge exchange.
