AMMAN— The workshop "Public Sector Modernization Plan and Women's Opportunities", in its third session on Friday, discussed the opportunities available to women in the public sector modernization process, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The head of the Civil Service Bureau, Sameh Al-Nasser, said that balance is important in providing opportunities for men and women, noting that the Civil Service Bureau has contributed to strengthening women’s role in the public sector. Nasser pointed to the need to increase females’ employment, especially in the engineering fields, or as a governor, or an administrative governor.
Nasser presented the procedures and studies that were carried out by the Bureau and the Institute of Public Administration regarding the reality of women in the public sector, indicating that in 2021, female workers in the public sector constituted 49 percent, while males constituted 51 percent, and the percentage of female workers holding university degrees or are classified in the first category reached 53 percent.
Meanwhile, public sector workers classified in the second category constituted 62 percent, while those in the third category reach 25 percent, because most workers in this category are guards, drivers and other professions that suit men more.
Regarding employment rates in the public sector in 2021, Nasser explained that the females reached 55 percent and males 45 percent, while the cumulative employment applications for females in the
Civil Service Bureau amounted to 278,820 bachelor applications, 50 thousand 902 diploma applications, and males filed about 114,000 bachelor degree applications, and about 11,000 diploma applications.
