AMMAN — A
training workshop on water awareness annual planning was organized Saturday by
the Ministry of Water and Irrigation in cooperation with the German Agency for
International Cooperation, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The workshop is part efforts
to spread water awareness culture in a project dubbed “Enhancing the Efficiency
of Community Usage of Water” and the “Sanitation and Sewage” program.
Ministry spokesperson, Omar
Salameh, said that the ministry is dealing well with the
water shortage issue
through a set of scenarios and programs designed to tackle the issue of groundwater
consumption and ensuring citizens water needs are met.
To achieve that, the
water awareness and maintenance culture must be spread as part of the national
education program, according to Salameh, who indicated that the regular
campaigns which the ministry has been conducting has had a positive impact on
water resources.
Salameh called on
participants to use unconventional means to stir the national and human
conscience and raise awareness among all community groups, in addition to teaching
them to rationalize the use of water in all areas of life.
Representatives
from the German agency presented the initiatives which were carried out by the
team responsible for a project dubbed “enhancing water usage and its
achievements for the current year”.
The workshop also
included training and practical programs, dividing participants into groups and
asking them to provide recommendations about programs regarding water awareness
to be implemented next year.
