AMMAN – On Sunday, Jordan welcomed
World Bank President Ajay Banga. Banga's
visit is intended to address Jordan's efforts at economic reform and public
sector transformation.

Prime Minister
Bisher Al-Khasawneh convened with Banga for a pivotal discussion
concerning outlined priorities to assist Jordan in overcoming economic
challenges, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.
The prime minister emphasized that the overall economic indicators were
progressing well until
October 7, 2023. The growth rate had reached 2.8
percent. However, the
Israeli war on Gaza cast a shadow over several economic
sectors, particularly tourism. Despite these challenges, the government remains
committed to its economic and developmental plans.

important projects in sectors including entrepreneurship, education,

Banga reaffirmed the Bank's support for Jordan's reforms, emphasizing the

particularly for young people and women. Jordan's strong connection with the
World Bank, as well as cooperation with other international financial
institutions, has helped the Kingdom mitigate economic crises.
Furthermore, Banga recognized Jordan's unique position in a complex regional
and geographical environment, winning respect and recognition from the vast
majority of countries, institutions, and international organizations.
