World Tourism Day 2023 was celebrated worldwide on
Friday, September 27, under its global theme "
Tourism and Green Investment." This global event hopes to unite the world in improving
tourism methodologies and economies.

The
UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) identified green
investments as one of the main priorities for tourism recovery, future growth,
and development, especially post-pandemic, Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.
There was particular emphasis on ‘green’ investments, and in
supporting the local environments that nurture tourism and natural resources.
The organization hopes that through uniting the world in focusing on this
approach, we may find new investment strategies to enhance global tourism,
tourism economies post-pandemic, and the environment.
Jordan celebrates World Tourism Day
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities joined the world in
organizing events in tourism cantered directorates across the Kingdom including
holding exhibitions to display local products and handicrafts.
The number of tourists visiting Jordan during the past eight
months of 2023 reached 4.5 million, according to a ministry statement, noting
that tourism income for the same period amounted to JD3,651 billion.
Enhancing tourism in Jordan
The Ministry stated that it has launched several training
programs to qualify workers in the tourism sector, service providers, owners
of tourism experiences from local communities and job seekers.
The Ministry said it is committed to establishing,
developing, activating and sustaining tourist attractions and itineraries,
especially in remote areas where unemployment rates are higher.
