AMMAN —
President of
Yarmouk University (YU) Islam Massad and a top official with the
US Agency for International Development (USAID) discussed an agency program for
pre-service teacher education, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Massad stressed in
the meeting with
USAID’s Chief of Party Cameron Mirza YU’s commitment to
bolster collaboration with the federal US agency to implement the program. He
noted that the university seeks to make administrative and regulatory changes
to the program to be accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of
Educator Preparation.
The first cohort of
101 students has recently graduated from the program, he said. He added that
the Faculty of Education is collaborating with USAID to prepare more classrooms
and laboratories to accommodate the growing number of students, as well as
holding training courses for the program’s supervisors.
Mirza emphasized the university’s contribution
to the success of the program and expressed hope for future scientific and
cultural collaboration.
