Irbid- Yarmouk University (YU) and the University of Illinois System signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday to enhance academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.

The agreement was signed via video conference by YU President Islam Massad and University of Illinois System President Tim Killeen.
Massad emphasized YU's commitment to expanding its global academic network and leveraging international expertise to advance its research and academic endeavors.
He highlighted the significance of partnering with a prestigious institution like the University of Illinois, noting that such collaboration would facilitate knowledge exchange among faculty and offer YU students opportunities for postgraduate studies in diverse specializations.
The memorandum outlines several areas of cooperation, including joint academic activities in shared fields of interest, faculty exchanges for teaching, research, and training, and student exchanges at both undergraduate and graduate levels. It also seeks to foster research partnerships through excellence centers at both universities, supporting joint research projects, seminars, workshops, and conferences.
Additionally, the agreement includes launching initiatives to strengthen ties between the University of Illinois and local and international institutions, with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. It also aims to enhance Yarmouk's graduate program by sending students to the University of Illinois and creating joint postgraduate programs between the two universities.
