The academic supervisor of the geography department, Rana
Al-Jawarneh, said that the first prize was in recognition of the effective role
of the research projects presented by students locally and internationally in
the field of geospatial data and map-making.
The second prize was awarded for the importance of these
projects in enabling students to display leadership in the field of geospatial
sciences. The third prize was awarded to the academic supervisor for her
supportive role in motivating students to achieve the goals of the global
network by holding workshops and other projects.
Jawarneh added that the global network is funded by USAID
and was established in 2014 with the aim of allowing young people to collect
spatial data in their respective areas around the world and make it available
for free on an open map.
