Zarqa - Chairman of the Zarqa Chamber of Commerce (ZCC), Hussein Shreim, Wednesday discussed with Sri Lankan Ambassador to Jordan, Priyangika Wijegunasekara, ways to enhance bilateral trade and investment cooperation.اضافة اعلان

Shreim also stressed the importance of supporting Jordanian-Sri Lankan cooperation opportunities by networking the two countries' tourism and travel companies and agents and increasing the volume of trade exchange in the agriculture and industry fields.

Shreim pointed to the "remarkable" growth in the volume of the two countries' trade exchange during the first five months of 2024.

Shreim noted Jordan's key imports from Sri Lanka include fabrics, tea, coffee, spices and coconuts, while Jordan's exports mainly cover iron products, furniture, chemical products and garments.

For her part, the Sri Lankan envoy pointed to the development of bilateral relations in the trade and investment fields since their establishment in 1965.

Wijegunasekara stressed the importance of strengthening economic and trade relations with the Kingdom and exploiting the business environment in Jordan.

The diplomat added that this future effort comes in light of the "great" cooperation in the industrial field and recruitment of Sri Lankan workers to work in Jordan's industrial cities.

The envoy expressed desire to increase the volume of mutual trade exchange, calling on Sri Lankan market to import Jordanian products, mainly olive oil and Dead Sea salts.

Additionally, she stressed Sri Lanka's readiness to provide all facilitations to Jordanian companies.

Concluding the meeting, the two sides agreed to organize joint economic activities aimed at enhancing joint trade and cultural cooperation, while strengthening research missions to spread common culture.
