Zakat Fund pays JD70,000 to release 90 indebted women

AMMAN — Jordan's Zakat Fund paid JD70,000 for the release of 90 women who were imprisoned after failing to pay back their loans as part of the fund's sixth batch of aid, according to Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

Chairing Zakat the Fund Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites, Mohammad Khalayleh, announced payment of the loans on behalf of the indebted women, who are wanted by judicial authorities.

At the meeting, the board of directors also agreed to organize 25 charity events aimed to offer assistance to impoverished families across the country.  The aid is estimated at a value of JD1 million, in addition to other in-kind assistance, like restoring and constructing a number of housing units.
