The fund had
already held an iftar on Sunday for 200 orphans under its care in Amman, and
will hold other iftars for orphans in various governorates, Smeirat said. The
events had been suspended for two years due to the
COVID-19 pandemic.
Families who
normally receive a monthly payment from the fund will be given an additional
30JD for Eid Al-Fitr, to be disbursed a week before the holiday, Smeirat
declared.
The fund helped
settle the debts of 800 women, ranging from JD100 to JD1500, during this year’s
Ramadan. In total, it has settled 7,500 debts worth JD4.5 million.
In addition, the
fund provided grants of JD100 at the beginning of Ramadan to help students pay
school fees. According to Smeirat, about 700 students benefited from this
initiative.
The fund also
launched a Ramadan campaign in cooperation with the zakat committees,
distributing 40,000 food parcels and 9,000 coupons worth JD30 each.
