Al-Duwairi: Destroying the Capabilities of the Houthis Is Not Easy, and Yemen Is Like "Tora Bora"
Military expert Major General Fayyad al-Duwairi stated that U.S. strikes will not be able to completely destroy the capabilities of the Houthi movement (Ansar Allah) and will not prevent them from launching missiles. He pointed out the difficulty of carrying out a ground operation or an air drop in Yemen due to its mountainous terrain.اضافة اعلان

According to al-Duwairi in an analysis for Al Jazeera, the Houthis' capabilities are not located in one single place; they are spread across several cities with extremely rugged, mountainous terrain, which makes it difficult for the Americans to track them.

This mountainous terrain provides the Houthis with a significant ability to maneuver and conceal weapons, reducing Washington's ability to restrain them, even if the U.S. intensifies its strikes, according to al-Duwairi.

While acknowledging that U.S. strikes would inevitably cause some damage to the Houthis, al-Duwairi ruled out the possibility of the United States or any other country launching a ground invasion or air drop into Yemen due to its mountainous nature.

The military expert compared Yemen’s terrain to the Tora Bora mountains in Afghanistan, saying that this environment gives the Houthis confidence in their statements and movements.

Moreover, the continued missile attacks by the Houthis on Israel, even after numerous U.S. strikes, confirms, in al-Duwairi's view, that the Yemeni group has not lost its capabilities, stockpiles, or leadership chain, despite the damage it has sustained.

Al-Duwairi also noted that the falling of intercepting missile debris near occupied Jerusalem or Tel Aviv indicates that Houthi missiles have reached Israel's borders, which contradicts the Israeli army’s claims that they had intercepted them outside their borders.

Al-Duwairi concluded by saying that the Houthis represent the only threat to Israel at present, given the decline in the capabilities of Palestinian missile resistance and the complete cessation of Hezbollah's missile attacks on Israel.
