London - AstraZeneca on Friday
announced encouraging results for a drug that the company claims can
significantly reduce the risk of severe symptoms of the coronavirus.

AstraZeneca said in a statement today, Friday, that the drug, which is made from a mixture of two antibodies, was initially developed as a treatment for people who contracted the disease, adding that it conducted a new experiment that included 5,197 participants who did not develop the disease, and it showed a 77 percent decrease in the infection attached to symptoms, with no recorded dangerous side effects.
The lead author of the study, Myrn Levine, said that the data show that a single dose can quickly and effectively prevent symptoms of Covid-19.
"This drug could be an important tool in our arsenal to help people who may need more than a vaccine to get back to their normal lives," he added.
