The agency reported that firefighting efforts are still ongoing at ten sites, with the affected forest area spanning 36,009 hectares, which exceeds the area affected by the worst wildfires in South Korea's history by more than 10,000 hectares. The worst wildfires occurred on the eastern coast in 2000, affecting 23,794 hectares.
It is worth noting that despite the wildfires having started a week ago, firefighting efforts have not made significant progress thus far.
