The Israeli "Cabinet" approved, on Saturday evening, a plan presented by the Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, aimed at constructing new roads in the occupied Jerusalem area to connect and expand settlements, particularly around the Ma'ale Adumim settlement.

The decision includes the construction of two main roads. The first is a road connecting the villages of Al-Eizariya and Az-Za'im, designated for Palestinian vehicles without passing through the Ma'ale Adumim colonial bloc.
The second road involves planning for the so-called "Alternate Route 80," a new bypass route east of Ma'ale Adumim, which will link Al-Eizariya with the area near the village of Khan al-Ahmar, to the east of the occupied city of Jerusalem.
The project will be funded through an "off-budget" fund, with 335 million shekels allocated for the construction of the road between Al-Eizariya and Az-Za'im, and 10 million shekels for the planning of Alternate Route 80. The Israeli Ministry of Transportation will provide support for the implementation of this project.
