Nihad al-Shawish, the head of the popular committee for the services of the Nur Shams camp, stated in a press release that the Israeli forces intend to demolish these homes in the Al-Manshiya neighborhood under the pretext of constructing a new road and altering the camp's geographical and architectural features, at the expense of dozens of homes built many years ago.
Al-Shawish explained that the Israeli forces have given the homeowners a deadline from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM to evacuate their homes. He also pointed out that this action follows the recent demolition of 11 homes in the camp, which had been carried out by the occupation forces a few days ago, stretching from the camp’s central square to the Al-Manshiya neighborhood.
The camp has been experiencing ongoing escalation since the start of the occupation's assault 25 days ago, with repeated raids on homes, which are stormed after the doors are blown up, and residents are forcibly evicted under the threat of gunfire, with the homes being turned into military outposts.
The camp has also faced widespread destruction of infrastructure and property, including homes and commercial shops that were demolished, exploded, or set on fire. This has greatly exacerbated the suffering of the residents who remained in their homes, facing a harsh siege, shortages of essential supplies such as food, water, medicine, and infant formula.
The camp witnesses daily large-scale displacement of its residents, particularly from the neighborhoods of the slaughterhouse, Al-Manshiya, Jibali al-Salihine, and Al-Nasr. The number of displaced people has exceeded 9,000.
