Trump wrote on his X account: "Spoke with Putin on Thursday, and there is a great opportunity for a solution in Ukraine."
Trump revealed that his conversation with Putin was "very good and constructive" and that he asked Putin to "show mercy to the completely surrounded Ukrainian forces" in the Kursk region.
Trump expressed concern that what might happen to the besieged Kyiv forces "could become a horrific massacre unprecedented since World War II."
Russian President Putin confirmed yesterday that the Russian army has complete control of the situation in the Kursk region and that the Kyiv forces, which infiltrated the area, are now surrounded with no option but to surrender or face death.
He said: "The situation in the Kursk region is under our full control. The forces that infiltrated our territory are cut off from supplies, completely isolated, and within range of Russian troops."
